Remembrance Day

Remembrance Day is a memorial day to remember people that died in war. It is also known as Poppy Day, Armistice Day or Veterans Day. World War 1 ended at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, therefore, Remembrance Day is always on November 11th. The red poppy is a symbol of Remembrance Day.  It came from the poem In Flanders Fields. The red poppies grew on the field called
Flanders in World War 1, and the red colour became a symbol of the blood lost in the war.

In Flanders Fields (Poem)
By John McCrae

In Flanders Fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.
We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved, and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch, be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow               This photo was taken from http://www.blirred-realty.blogspot.com/

  3. To Hayley,
I have just read your comment on my introduction, and by now you have figured out how to get photos onto your posted. As for your blog go to the top right corner of your blog and click on 'Design', once you've done that a whole new page should appear with boxes saying 'Add Gadget Hear'. Click on one of these boxes and a list should appear.

Scroll down the list and click n the gadget that says 'Pictures', or 'Photos'. Then just pick a photo from your computer or the Internet and press save.

    Hope this helps,
    Emily
