Christmas in Australia!

 Christmas in Australia is different from here. There, it is sunny and warm for Christmas Day. (LUCKY!) Most of them are probably swimming in the ocean or lying in the hot sand on the beach, while in Vancouver it's cold and it basically rains every day. In Australia they also have Christmas trees and churches like us. They do alot of Christmas Caroling during the Christmas holidays, here are some of their popular Christmas songs, Three Drovers, Six White Boomers, Aussie Jingle Bells, and Australian 12 Days of Christmas. That is all about Christmas in Australia, hope you'll read my next post!

Remembrance Day

Remembrance Day is a memorial day to remember people that died in war. It is also known as Poppy Day, Armistice Day or Veterans Day. World War 1 ended at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, therefore, Remembrance Day is always on November 11th. The red poppy is a symbol of Remembrance Day.  It came from the poem In Flanders Fields. The red poppies grew on the field called  
Flanders in World War 1, and the red colour became a symbol of the blood lost in the war.

All Souls' Day...

In Roman Catholic All Souls' Day means The Commemoration of All the Faithful Departed. Others call it "Day of the Dead". The Christian holiday of All Souls' Day pays respect and remembers the souls of all friends and loved ones who have died and gone to heaven. Every November 2nd, Belgium, Brazil, Ecuador, Guam, Haiti, Luxembourg, Panama, St. Pierre & Miquelon, USA, Uruguay and Vatican City State celebrate All Souls' Day. Commemorations were based on a very widespread belief that the souls of the dead visited their old homes on one night of the year. Well, that's all about All Souls' Day, hope you'll read my next post. National Cinnamon Bun Day: Every year on October 4th Sweden celebrates National Cinnamon Bun Day. Every country in the world has strange holidays, but having a National Cinnamon Bun Day? That would be so cool! The first cinnamon roll was baked in Sweden on October 4th. Cinnamon rolls baked in Sweden are not as sweet and heavy as they are in North America. The name cinnamon roll is literally the same as cinnamon bun, but in Sweden they are called "kanelbulle". Stay tuned for my next post!
